Belvès is a mediaeval town with seven
towers, perched on a rocky outcrop overhanging the valley of the river
Nauze, near the large forest of Bessede.
Its charm has led Belvès to be classified
"one of the most beautiful villages of France", and its tranquil way of
life close to nature "Green Holiday Village". Through small streets with
poetic names as "End Of The World Street" or "The Bird That Sings Street",
discover the Castrum fortified in the 11 th century, with its main gate,
its belfry and its ramparts. The Covered Market, 500 years old, has kept
on one of its 23 pillars the chain of the pillory. Nearby are the
Troglodytic Houses, in the ancient mediaeval moat, and the Hurdy-Gutdy
Museum. Belves is a very alive town with many important events and
activities : Music Festival, 100 km ultramarathon, Mediaeval Feast,
