In the old quarters, Bergerac has kept in its alleys, built between
the 14'h and the 16'h centuries and remarkably restored, many remains of
its glorious past such as La Vieille Auberge with its
gothic arcades, or the Maison Peyrarede built during the reign of Henri IV,
which now houses the Tobacco Museum. The St Jacques church, recenctly
restored, has kept its belfry and a beautiful
flamboyant window. In the heart of a rich wine-growing area the Conseil
Interprofessionnel des Vins
de la région de Bergerac has
renovated the Cloître des Récollets
and its wine cellars where receptions are held by
the Consuls de la Vinée, whereas
the Musée du vin et de la
batellerie is well complimented by the Château de
Monbazillac nearby. Tél. 05 53 57 03
