Molières, at the border of the Bessède Wood, in a wood openning, has rested deeply rural. The place was given to Prince Edward of England (son of Henry III, and that later will be known as Edward I "Longshanks". Yes, the one in the film about William Wallace.) by the Lord of Montferrand in 1278. Works on it will not really begin until 1282, by the King of England´s Sénéchal Jean de Grailly (Captal de Buch). The Charter  will be granted in 1286. Eventually we know the name of the bastide "urbanist" : Bertrand de Panissels. Later, he was in charge of the Monpanzier Bastide building too. As we know, this last one succeded, meanwhile that other of Molières remains unfinished. The main square has never been surrounded by houses covering the street, and seems too big. However, it shows the beauty of nobility and country.

In one corner, we find the only house with arcades over the street, isolated and magnificent. Once it was the bastide bailiff´s home. It seems to be the gate of the street that leads us to the churh, which was conceived with a tremenduos dimension that contrasts with the small bastide developement. Country mixes up with the houses very soon, and more than one street, beginning in the square, finishes in a ground way. One of them drives to the remains of the castle, which is situated in the north side of the bastide. The building that began with a big impulse at the early years of XIV century, could not be finished, and has left important ruins.

Today Molières has 300 inhabitants. The main celebrations take place: On the 17th of December, Birds Fair. Mid July, Comunal Fair
